Visalaw Updates | October 2026

Here’s what’s new at Visalaw AI!

New in Drafts: I-212 and U-Visa Derivative Process Types

Released October 5

Two new process types are now available in Drafts: I-212 and U-Visa Derivative. You can start drafting both right away.

What’s new

  • I-212 — Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission: For clients seeking permission to reapply for admission to the United States after deportation or removal.

  • U-Visa Derivative — Form I-918, Supplement A: For qualifying family members of a U-visa principal petitioner.

Research Agent

Released September 30

The new Research Agent is now available in Visalaw 2.0. It’s designed to handle complex questions and tasks more intuitively by researching the relevant sources before providing an answer.

What’s new

Automatic research

The Research Agent automatically researches your question before answering, so you don’t need to manually select Research, Document Q&A, or Web Search.

Answer Now

Need a response right away? Select Answer Now to skip the research process and get an immediate answer.

Continue Research

If you want to explore a question further, Continue Research allows you to resume the research and dig deeper into the topic.

Sources and citations

The Research Agent provides sources alongside its answers, including relevant government and legal sources. When working with uploaded documents, citations can also take you directly to the relevant page or passage.

Skills

The Research Agent can automatically suggest a Visalaw Skill when one is relevant to your question, helping you take advantage of specialized immigration workflows without having to search for the Skill yourself.

Example Document available for RFE

You can now create a custom example document for the RFE process type, just as you can for other Drafts processes.

Setup note:
Setting up an RFE example is a little different from the other Drafts processes. For now, you’ll create it manually, and the template has three example sections:

  • Introduction

  • Request Response Section

  • Conclusion

Since every RFE is different, with its own number and mix of requests, the template includes just one representative Request Response Section. Drafts uses it as a style guide for every response section it generates from your RFE, so you only need to show it once.
